What is the Teddy Bronde style?

When we think of spring, summer, and the Great British weather finally starting to warm, many of us turn to lighter toned hair, a more colourful wardrobe and more discreet make-up. 2024 saw some gorgeous long summer days and the advent of the Teddy Bear Blonde shade of hair; but in 2025, we’re doing things a little differently and actually going darker for the lighter months.

Bold block colours have been replaced across the mainstream fashion and beauty world with blended tones that contain a mix of shades designed to flatter all skintones.

Chestnut Teddy Bronde is the latest to take centre stage, as a mix of warm reddish brown with a darker root is blended through the bottom of the hair into finer pieces. First introduced by hair stylist Chris McMillan (Jennifer Aniston’s go-to stylist!), it has been now been replicated by the likes of Hailey Bieber and Zendaya. Harking back to Jennifer’s classic ‘Rachel-from-Friends’ hue, Chestnut Teddy Bronde is the latest in a myriad of 00s trend revivals.

Red hair has grown more popular in recent years, but the Chestnut Teddy Bronde offers a softer version of adding a warm tone to the hair without entirely changing to a dramatic new look. As a subtle warmth rather than a bold one, it also works perfectly with the spring-summer wardrobe colours that are finally lightening as the season begins.

As a beautiful blended shade, Chestnut Teddy Bronde can work for all – but of course, it’s best to work with your hair stylist to find the exact right combination for you. Adapting the warm copper tones of the chestnut to your personal skin tone can help it complement your natural features in the right way. Those with light eyes will find a reddish tone at the root can really make their eyes pop, and those with warm skin tones will find it beautifully highlights their face. For darker skin tones, it’s key that your colourist can correctly blend the red/orange copper-y tones with cooler notes to balance out the contrast without looking too harsh.

If you mention to your MT Salons stylist that you’re looking to move to Chestnut Teddy Bronde, we can help – but feel free to plenty of pics and inspiration to your consultation to help reinforce your thoughts! We’ll create a light balayage with blonder ends to blend in with the warmer roots before glossing the tips with a ‘pastelised’ version of the root shade to dilute the tone through the length and create the Bronde mix.

Of course, we can also help advise on aftercare and styling to help your Chestnut Teddy Bronde tresses last as long as possible before they need a refresh.
