As Seen in HELLO! - Is Your Hair Aging You?

I recently spoke to HELLO! about the haircuts that can help create a fresher, more youthful appearance. For me, it’s never about following rules based on your age. It’s about choosing a shape that works with your features, texture and lifestyle.
The Bob
A bob can have a naturally lifting effect because of the strong, clean outline it creates around the face. Where that line sits is really important. The right length can enhance the jawline, expose the neck and create the illusion of more lift through the face.
Face Framing Layers
I love using face framing layers to open up the face, highlight the cheekbones and create softness around the jawline. However, if your hair has become finer, avoid over-layering. Removing too much weight can actually make hair appear thinner.
Long Hair
There’s absolutely no reason you need to cut your hair short as you get older. With longer hair, I focus on maintaining density while introducing shape and movement around the face. Healthy ends and plenty of shine are just as important as the cut itself.
Fringes
A fringe can completely change the proportions of the face. In fact, a lot of my clients joke that they choose a fringe instead of Botox!
I think of fringes as a way of contouring the face with hair. The right length and placement can highlight the cheekbones, soften the face and draw attention to the eyes.
Ultimately, youthful hair isn’t about reaching a certain age and cutting it off. It’s about finding a shape that suits you.
