How To Recreate Kate Middleton’s BAFTA Hair With HELLO!

Kate’s BAFTA hair was the perfect balance of polished and effortless, which is exactly why I loved it so much.
Princess Kate's hair had a soft, effortless feel, with loose waves that looked relaxed and naturally undone rather than overly polished. The style had gentle movement through the lengths and a smooth but understated finish. Kate's off centre parting gave the style a modern, romantic look.
How I’d Recreate This Look at Home
If you want to achieve this softer wave, here’s exactly how I’d do it:
- Prep properly. Start on damp hair with a lightweight texture spray, shine spray and always heat protection. This gives movement without heaviness.
- Blow dry naturally. Don’t aim for a perfectly sleek finish. A little softness at this stage helps the waves feel effortless later.
- Use a large barrel tong. Create big, loose waves by wrapping the hair gently around the barrel and leaving the ends out to keep the look contemporary.
- Frame the face first. Curl the first two sections back away from the face to open everything up.
- Adjust for your hair type. If your hair is fine, alternate curl directions for a messier, fuller effect. If you prefer something more polished, curl sections in the same direction.
- Let it cool, then brush out. Once fully cooled, brush through to break up the curls and create that airy, relaxed texture.
- Finish softly. Use a light mist of flexible hold hairspray and a touch of dry texture spray through the mid lengths to maintain that soft, undone effect.
For me, this look is all about softness, movement and shine. It’s romantic, modern and completely wearable.
