A Beginner’s Guide to The Charlotte Cut

Our current favourite hair cut is Named after the Sex and the City character, the Charlotte cut is being touted as 2025’s most universally flattering style!

OK, so the Charlotte isn’t anything groundbreaking, but it’s certainly a cut that anyone with any hair type can make look
great. Think less messy and more polished as we embrace sophistication and the essence of femininity.
Echoing the prim and romantic nature of Charlotte herself, it can be left loose or easily styled with alice bands or other accessories. It works on a shorter length - cut blunt at the edges and to the collarbone length that slightly rounds up at the front.
Then, with minimal layering, we like to use our invisible layering technique for a polished and smooth look while still maintaining movement and body.
It also works on the longer lengths with the same invisible layering pattern and blunt rounded
edges but with more face framing around the front. Be careful though: too much face framing
will give you more of a shag cut vibe.
The Charlotte cut is a modern twist on a timeless classic. It is polished and smooth yet has movement and a little fluff.

To style, we at MT Salons recommend:
- Using a little mousse on damp hair – this will add some bounce and body as well as a little shine
- Once dry, use a tong to curl all the hair in towards the face. My favourite is the Alfa Italia tropea wand as it has three different
wand heads for all different hair lengths so you can switch it up depending on your mood.
The Charlotte cut is always a favourite at Melissa Timperley Hair Salons, and you may have heard it referred to as a ‘lob’, shoulder-length bob or mid-length bob.
Whatever name you know it by, our specialist stylists can help you embrace this chic style at your new appointment. Get in touch to book your consultation!
